Byco Oil Refinery is Now Completed Becoming Pakistan’s Largest Oil Refinery Using Isomerisation Technology
In Karachi, the completion of Pakistan’s largest oil refinery at Mouza Kund, District Lasbella was announced. The oil refinery has been completed by Byco Oil Pakistan Limited in Baluchistan.
The CEO of Byco Oil Pakistan Limited, Qaiser Jamal, said:
“This milestone has been made possible with sheer hard work on the part of our employees and support and cooperation of all our valued contractors. Upon commissioning, this refinery, with the blessings of the Almighty, will become the single largest in the country.”
It is going through pre-commissioning and preparatory activities which require placing different plants, equipment, and instrumentation to ensure safety and performance. The refinery was installed with the capacity of 120,000 barrels per day. Along with smaller refinery, it will produce over 155,000 barrels per day, which is said to be 55% more than the current largest refinery in Pakistan.
From this capacity, the refinery can also be made to produce 18,000 barrels per day. Byco Oil Pakistan Limited will add to the existing crude oil refining capacity from 12.25 million to 18 million tons annually. It is expected that with this the import of deficit refined petroleum products will be reduced.
Along with this, Pakistan’s first Isomerisation Plant is also being commissioned. This Isomerisation technology will be able to produce higher volumes of motor gasoline. What is also good about this technology is that it is environment-friendly as it produces safer motor gasoline for the environment. The refinery can discharge tankers with 100,000 metric tons of crude oil. An investment of over $600 million by Byco Oil Pakistan Limited, it also runs a petroleum marketing business network with 222 retail outlets.
