Internet Dependency Has Increased in People with Accessibility
A lot of the times we turn to the internet for giving us answers we think we will not get from anywhere else. People not only search online for information, tips and guidance, but also look for debate, discussion and networking. In this sense, internet has really come in handy. It has become an integral part of how the world works in this modern technology-knowledge based economy.
A recent opinion poll of 1,000 adults by the Science Museum in the United Kingdom found that people who are grown up in the age of the computers are now much dependent on the web for their day to day work. Internet has everything even for amusement. Television, radio, music and games are now all available online with online stations, music and games downloads. It is hard to think from days when internet first began to the point where it has reached now. With innovation, it is moving deeper into our lives.
According to International Telecommunication Union’s 2011 survey report, Pakistan ranked at number 19 with some 29 million internet users, ahead of such technologically advanced countries as Australia and Sweden. But that is because of the country’s huge population. However, when it comes to the percentage, only 15.5% of people in the country have internet accessibility, whereas Australia and Sweden have their respective figures in the 90s. Pakistan has a long way to go to be completely an internet-dependent nation, but with the increasing trend of internet usage through various mobile devices, this transformation will occur quicker.
The trend of increasing internet usage is growing amongst the younger population than the older ones. People learn skills online, test their knowledge on subjects and share ideas. This dependency on the internet indicates an addiction that young people have begun to have. In earlier days, people needed more things to perform a task whilst today internet can come to aid for nearly every service. Consulting a doctor or performing telemedicine, both consumers and service providers have generated an online economy and e-business.
With mobile devices like iPhones and iPads providing access to the internet round the clock, even being away from a PC will not let us be independent of the internet. More technologically advanced devices are being equipped with internet access options. Since the internet has been so integrated in every step of the way in our lives today, it is better that one accepts this technological development and its impact rather than fight to stay away from its natural course of influence. There are good and bad points to the internet accessibility and usage like for anything. But to concentrate on the good aspects and trying to shun the negative is where the real success lies. With the younger generation that is the path parents should take.
