7th IGATEX Pakistan 2012 Starts in Lahore
The 7th edition of IGATEX Pakistan is being organised by FAKT Exhibitions Private Limited at Lahore International Expo Centre from October 11 to 14, 2012. It is South Asia’s largest and most established exhibition for garment, textile machinery and accessories. More than 550 companies from some 30 countries are participating in the 7th IGATEX. The exhibition gives an opportunity to Pakistan’s textile industrialists to showcase their best products and drive in global customers.
Many business alliances are formed during such an event and it brings in foreign exchange for the country. Pakistani textile is famous around the world and has strong buyers interested in its quality. Unfortunately, the same kind of product is not easily seen in the local markets, but is available only in selected areas. This creates a gap in customers as not everyone can have an access to a quality product of their choice. On the other hand, it also damages the local textile industry for losing many customers that it can actually have.
These days the prices of everything have gone higher and textile industry has benefitted with this. Pakistan’s fashion industry is also achieving great success because of the quality textile available, however the market should be enlarged by reaching the masses. Pakistan, being the 4th largest producer of cotton yarn and cloth, is the 3rd largest producer of textile in Asia. Pakistan also contributes 3% of the total textile trade in the world.
On the technology side, textile machineries that Pakistan can showcase will bring focus on the kind of products that can be produced. Having such amazing figures on its side in textile industry, the private sector seems to benefit a lot. But again the emphasis should be laid on not just exporting good quality textile and its machinery abroad, but also keeping the same level here at home.
