Pakistan’s IT Companies Need to Plan Three Years Ahead, But Not Further
At Data Centre, the second international conference was held in Karachi, where the importance of applying latest technology was discussed. According to an IT Consultant at IBM Pakistan, around 71% of the chief executives have said that technology is an external factor which affects their organisations the most.
With the growth in digital technology, mobile and social media, how businesses are conducted and organisations are run is also entering a new phase. Now new clients are demanding analytics software. The next big thing in computer technology is ‘cloud computing’. Rapidly, cloud computing is also being integrated into Pakistani technology companies.
The new trends to watch out for in IT are:
- Consumerism and tablet
- Infinite data centres
- Resource management
- Mobility
- Context awareness for applications
- Hybrid clouds
- Fabric data centres
- IT complexity
- Big data- Big Problems
- Software defined networks
Hence, to deliver the services required of them, the IT companies need to be smart enough to go the right way. There is a risk of getting it all wrong when new technologies are not rightly used. Hence, properly educated and trained experts are required to fulfill such a demand in the market. To meet the demand, the companies must plan at least three years ahead for the future. According to another IT expert, planning five to ten years is a norm in Pakistan, but it should stop as technology changes quickly.
Pakistan is not far ahead in computer technology and IT sector as compared to other countries in the region, but with the consistent support from the government and dedication on part of the IT entrepreneurs nothing is impossible to be achieved. Only the technical expertise are required and with the right opportunities provided, the brain drain in IT could be stopped.
