LinkedIn will Open Its Offices in Pakistan by the End of 2012
Social media in Pakistan is growing constantly along with the increase of accessibility of Internet. Recently, the Board of Investment (BOI) Chairman Saleem H. Mandviwalla announced that LinkedIn, which is a professional networking website, will open its offices in Pakistan. The offices are expected to open before this year ends or at the most by the beginning of next year. No certain time frame has been provided.
This will also mark the official introduction of LinkedIn in Pakistan. This new development on part of LinkedIn is not merely an expansion move, but it will help Pakistani professional be more reachable and engaging to the rest of the world. Pakistani professionals are equally competitive in their talents and abilities. They must reach out to international brands to bring in foreign exchange to Pakistan.
LinkedIn not only helps make a professional profile for a user, but also allows joining different groups and social networks online to grow professional networking. A user can also search for relevant jobs available in various international companies and locations. According to SocialBakers.com, Pakistan is the 18th largest country worldwide that uses LinkedIn with some 1.2 million users, including Pakistani expatriates. This is a huge number of users from a single country and LinkedIn cannot ignore its potential to grow more here. Pakistan is ranked higher than such LinkedIn users from countries like Russia and Japan.
LinkedIn will make an initial investment of $10 million in Pakistan, which will also help the country’s economic condition. This is also an opportunity for Pakistan to provide better working environment from security point of view as it can lead to other such internationally well-established social media sites to open their businesses in Pakistan and help solve unemployment issue to an extent.
