First Technology Incubator Launched in Pakistan for Young IT Entrepreneurs
On August 31, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) launched Pakistan’s first enterprise incubator, called Plan9 Tech Incubator, along with the assistance from the Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT and ITES (P@SHA). The launching ceremony was held at Arfa Karim Software Technology Park, but it covers projects for Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. The first project will be held in Lahore in September and applicants from across the country can try in. Their selection will be finalized by the board of the Plan9 project.
With the help of the Plan9 Tech Incubator’s team, many young IT entrepreneurs will be provided support. With their creative mind and dedicated skills, Pakistan can see growth in IT business within the country. It will help not only employ many talented minds, but also promote business environment for foreign investors. Thus, the economy of Pakistan can get a greater contribution from the IT sector.
According to P@SHA’s President, Jehan Ara, those eager young entrepreneurs who have always wanted to start up such IT ventures were driven back due to costs are now getting a better opportunity to showcase their abilities. The main aim that PITB Chairman Dr. Umar Saif expects the Plan9 project to achieve is to be sustainable into the future having long-lasting prospects.
He shared a plan of a reality show based around the Plan9 project to be started soon. The purpose for making the Plan9 project based around a reality show is to engage anyone, even if a person is not from an IT field. There were IT professionals from Mindstorm Studios, Gagism.com, and VahZay Limited, who shared their success stories, which inspire us all to venture into this new field of online business and get creative.
