SAP opening official Pakistan Office
Little bit of news, and I wont be able to clarify further just yet.
SAP implementations in Pakistan (particularly the SME “Business One” products) have been accelerating over the past year, but mostly driven by distribution partners such as Abacus Consulting.
Now, SAP is opening their own presence in Islamabad.
To start with, they are pulling away people from Microsoft who have been operating in the Gulf region. I think that is a smart move considering the Pakistani market is just SMEs (even the largest groups fall within the “medium enterprise” bracket) and MS veterans from the Gulf would have the best idea of the solutions being implemented here.
Right now it is unclear what type of role the SAP office will have in Pakistan — whether it will operate as a thin strategic thinktank like Intel, or build a larger support / logistics presence like IBM / Nortel / Cisco etc.
Will keep you up to date when I get more details.

SAP has now its Head Office in Lahore, with branch offices in Karachi and Islamabad.
Pakistan will be seeing yet another IT revolution in upcomming years when businesses will try to come out of generic solutions. With increasing competition they need to make their supply chain more effective and transparent. Here ERPs like SAP and Oracle will have a cut throat compettiion, which can be seen now a days at the enterprise level.
