It is of relief to know that Pakistan is exporting some kind of machinery which wins praise from outsiders. Pakistani developed tractor parts are in high demand all around the world, from Europe to America, to Africa and South Asia. Many of the globally established tractor manufacturing companies would rather import tractor parts from Pakistan than anywhere else in the world, because of their cost effectiveness and quality.
According to the CEO of RK Gears, Mumshad Ali, Pakistan is leading exports in tractor parts like gears, engine parts, transmission parts, rims and radiators. Newer technology power steering, turbo charge engine, green engine, electronic display and power brake have been introduced by Pakistani tractor parts makers at a low cost, which attracts foreign buyers. An American tractor company could not compete within the domestic market of Pakistan, because it offered the same high standards, but with high price tag.
Now, it is the responsibility of the Engineering Development Board (EDB) to provide requisite facilities in manufacturing these tractor parts and solving engineering issues. The auto industry, if managed efficiently, can bring in a lot of external revenue and foreign exchange. There is no reason to neglect the industry when it has proven its standards.
To increase confidence of foreign investors in ventures in Pakistan, it is necessary that the auto industry be given cheaper liquidity. Despite there is huge energy crisis in the country and insecurity of safe business environment, the tractor industry can still manage to bring in better growth for the country’s economy through quality driven products. Tractors being essential machinery for the agricultural production in Pakistan should not be neglected by the government and special focus and funds should be allotted.
