The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) was supposed to have completed the system of biometric SIM verification by now, but it has been delayed. The biometric SIM verification system was required for purchase of new connections. The delay had been caused by the absence of decision-making officials at the PTA. The other parties concerned with this new system to be introduced, both the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) and the telecom companies are all prepared for this new system to take over.

The ceremony for this occasion was performed by the former Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman along with Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Shahana Urooj Kazmi. Telecommunication is important for socio-economic growth, because not only does it provides connectivity, but also employment to thousands of people. The National Institute of Design and Analysis (NIDA) will be conducting specialised vocational courses for females that will equip them for Fashion and Textile Design, Apparel Making and Domestic Tailoring. Other than these, female students will also be offered courses in Multimedia Graphics, Architecture Design, Basic Auto CAD, and Basic Computer Skills.
The Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) has a subsidiary, NIDA, which will be undertaking all of these vocational courses. TUSDEC is registered with Trade Testing Board (TTB) for CAD/CAM enabled vocational courses.

Mobile phone companies are uncertain about the new SIMs sales system that has been formed by the Prime Minister. Two of the three mobile operators have introduced SIM sales through postal service which had been suggested by the Interior Minister. Since the decline of the SIMs sales, the mobile phone operators switched to a new method of reaching the local market, mostly through courier services.

I have a little suggestion for you and Jehan Ara, see if you people can sort this out:
I was thinking may be in the last hour of Startup Insiders session, you can provide an opportunity for new startups to showcase their work? Like giving 10-15 minutes to each startup to describe their work. By “new startups” I mean those who are planning to launch a startup and have their product ready and want to showcase it to other peers and industry leaders to get advise and comments (and also possible investment.)
I have seen such events happening in other countries like the infamous TechCrunch40 event:

Althought I have responded to Sohail’s suggestion on my own blog, I thought I would share it here as well.
Sohail, your idea is a good one and it is already being discussed at the SI organizational level. We want to fine-tune it a bit so that we are offering a quality program which ends up providing value to both startups and potential investors.
Keep the ideas coming. Remember, although this has been initiated by P@SHA and Green&White, it is a community event so it is up to all of us to evolve it into something that will work for us all.
