Scrybe gets Series A investment from Adobe Systems and LMKR
Scrybe — Pakistan’s very own success story in the making — has just announced a Series-A venture investment from Adobe Systems and LMKR.
After a 10 month beta testing period which involved thousands of active testers / month, Scrybe is now set to expand upon its innovative technology over the next 2-3 years.
This is perhaps the first example of a local group that has surpassed monumental challenges to secure venture financing from abroad, and a very different story from the other investment success stories you would normally hear.
All in all its a great achievement and the Scrybe guys have a lot feel happy about. Congrats to them and hope they keep making a mark abroad.
For anyone still not familiar with Scrybe, here is their famous product demo video:

Offcourse it’s a great news but you used the term “innovative”. May I ask what innovative thing did you discover?
I got to know about this software long time back and If I am not wrong, they are using hidden flash to store offline data.
I would recommend these guys to give an extension of Google gears(gears.google.com) whic is much neater and cross platform technology and you don’t need to click option “Available Offline” to make your application working properly in the absence of Internet. The next version of Gmail would have facility of offline composing. They already have made their GOOGLE READER an offline RSS reader.

I was write that it’s based on Flash.

I hope you were just sarcastic when you said that Scrybe president is also a president of OPEN :-). Congrats to Scrybe (I even do not know what do they do) but do not under estimate OPEN’s connections.

@Obi Wan
Yes, I didn’t fact-check that, owing to the fact that I’m really busy and on vacation from G&W — Scrybe’s president is SOMETHING at OPEN, and the only member of their team who’s in the US.
@Adnan
Offline access is the least innovative thing about Scrybe. Scrybe is based on Flex.
The innovative bit is context. Think about it – I’ll write about it when I get some time.

Ok made some further corrections on the post – argh, yes more fact-checking was required, blah blah.
As the saying goes (some saying from somewhere) : “blame it all on sleep!”

I think it’s wonderful. Obviously Adobe wouldn’t have invested unless they saw some value and innovation in what the guys at Scrybe have done. I remember when they came out with the video on youtube there was a lot of excitement all round the world – and suddenly everyone’s eyes were on this young team in Pakistan.

I spoke to Imran Qidwai who is resident in Boston and is one of the founder members of OPEN. He has been a consultant to Scrybe over the past several months. I was concerned that Faizan and his team may have given away too much for too little but Imran tells me that the deal was a good one all round.

Its great to hear Scrybe got such awesome investment.
@ Adnan
Mixing context with your tasks is the main innovation in Scrybe. I use 37 Signal’s Backpack to manage my tasks related to projects, and there’s a lot of overhead in looking for tasks that are dependent on one another or are linked in some way. Having an application do that for you is excellent. Throw in good features and a great UI, and you have Scrybe.
@ Osama
Hey, that’s my line! “Blame it on sleep”
