*Karachi**, 8th October, 2010:* The first Urdu app – Jang Newspaper is out now on Ovi Store. Currently available on S60 Nokia devices only, the application will soon be available on S40 Nokia devices as well.

Ovi Store by Nokia is a one-stop store for all mobile phone application needs. It provides access to both free and paid content which can be easily downloaded on compatible Nokia devices. A variety of applications, games, videos and personalization items are available on Ovi Store to choose from. Nokia aims to increase the number of locally relevant applications in near future for Pakistani consumers so that they can stay connected with what matters to them the most, via a seamless and integrated user experience.

Introduced by a Pakistani developer, the Jang application provides quick access to the latest news published in Jang newspaper. Jang, being the leading Urdu daily newspaper of Pakistan is considered the most reliable source of news, information and updates from within the country and around the world. Jang covers all genres of news ranging from politics, business, sports, health and entertainment.

Commenting on the launch of Jang application on Ovi Store, Adeel Hashmi, Communications Manager, Nokia Pakistan & Afghanistan said, “We are happy to see such positive response towards Ovi Store from the local developer community. This level of interest is a good indicator that Nokia would be able to introduce many more locally relevant applications on Ovi Store soon, catering to the varying needs of Pakistani consumers”

Jang is a free online application which offers the latest news feeds right on the mobile phone screen along with photo tags for each news item. The user can also view the news details he is interested in by clicking on the news headline. This new application would add convenience in the lives of those Pakistani mobile phone users who are well-versed in the native Urdu language.
