iDress.pk is a very innovative idea with great interface. The idea takes online shopping to a whole new level. Its refreshing to see that some one thought of creating a new and niche site for online selling, instead of just building another e-shop for mobiles, laptops and electronics.
iDress.pk is targeting a great potential potential market, something which can work really well. Again as I said earlier, clothing is a very lucrative market to attack, our women spend a good deal of amount on buying raw material, buying accessories for it (laces, buttons and what not) and then spending a good deal of time haggling with tailors on what design to shape their creation, in some ways each woman (most of them any way ) is already a designer. What iDress.pk just did is give them a tool where they can do all of it from the comfort of their home, they can just go to the site and unleash their creativities. One joy which this will take away (and only time will be the judge of this) is the actual thrill they feel going from shop to shop feeling the fabric and haggling with the shopkeeper
iDress.pk though is at a very early stage they need to move very quickly in establishing different payment and delivery options, also probably need to handle the alterations very well because in actual process it is a very important part ladies can ask the tailor to re-adjust stiching etc after trial some thing which will glaringly be missing from online experience, however if iDress.pk can establish a trust of this they might make it over.
But they need to move quickly maybe invest some in advertisement because barrier to entry in this area is not much, and as their twitter feed mentioned people are already trying to create clones (some thing which unfortunately happens very quickly here).
Again I was pleasantly surprised at the excellent execution of the idea, hope they reach success and encourage other to geniunly work on creativeness and innovation instead of just blindly copying e-shop thing.
I got a chance to communicate with founders behind the idea following is our discussion.
GnW> Who is the founding team?
iDress> iDress is founded by a husband & wife duo, Ayad & Maheen, belonging to the ‘technology’ and ‘design’ fields respectively.
GnW> How did this idea emerged?
iDress> This idea was emerged when we both wanted to start up a venture for each of us. Instead, we thought to combine our ambitions and came up with a totally new & unique concept for the women in Pakistan. We have a detailed coverage on our blog with the actual story on how the idea was built.
GnW> After design is complete how do you guys deliver, and how long it takes?
iDress> We deliver by standard courier service and our delivery time is 2 weeks.
GnW> What if the size does not fit or some thing needs to be altered?
iDress> We have a team of designers & tailors who take utmost care that the dresses are made exactly according to the customer’s given measurement. As for the alterations, pls refer to our Alterations Policy page.
GnW> How soon you are looking for integrating other payment mechanisms.
iDress> The funny thing with other payment methods is that they first want the site/service to be up & live and then they would allow their services. So the best option to start with was with our company’s registered bank account. Now that the site is live, we are working on other payment mechanisms including offline & online payments. We are in coordination with EasyPaisa and online credit card merchants and expect to have their services by first week of July 2011.
GnW> What is the marketing plan to launch this ?
iDress> We are planning several online & offline marketing campaigns. Online campaigns via social media channels, and offline campaigns in various malls.
GnW> At present are you getting any customers if yes what is the feedback and how many customers you have served?
iDress> We have received a few orders and our first batch of deliveries is going to start this week. The feedback for our online ‘Design Center’ is great; people in general here have seen such a thing for the first time and they really liked the amazing idea. As for the feedback for our service, we are going to receive it after we have delivered the dresses.
Loved the video mentioned in their blogpost. Sharing it for inspiration.
