Abid Beli sells Beliscity.com
Beliscity.com is one of the top online shopping site of Pakistan, founded as early as 2001. Abid Beli was the founder of this thriving online business.
More recently they have diversified their offering from typical online products by adding a dedicated book section (in partner ship with Liberty books) and an online Grocery store.
However recently Abid Beli has sold his venture to an online distribution company in March 2010. This is a great example for a lot of us, and there have been very few acquisitions and merger in our industry (as a matter of fact the breakup of one company into two are more common but more on that later), any way so Abid Beli has successfully setup a business and successfully sold it of (For Personal Reasons). Here is some history on him and Beliscity
He started career in early 1996 by joining his Father’s construction business and family businesses of Plastic Recycling & Manufacturing. Later he ventured into Offset & Flexo Business which proved to be profitable business. Some of his clients included Konica, Siemens, PSO, Saya Industries etc.
His first encounter with technology business came when he partnered in the First Cyber Café under the banner of SkyNet Communication, which became the pioneer in introducing & reselling Internet Hours.
After 2.5 yrs, he began his own Internet hours Reselling & Cyber Café under the name of Belisnetcity. He created different sales channels by conducting events such as “The Internet Loot Mela”, “FM Road show with a Famous Big Balloon event”. His unique and successful sales tactics resulted in him gaining Loyalty & appreciation awards from WorldTel, NetLink, Logon, Hinet, Netsol & Zabnet.
Along with that, he launched Beliscity.com in 2001. Initially it was just an informative website related to Telecommunications & Internet companies. Then moving to trade he listed Laptops & Calling devices on the site. It got nominated in the Top 3 websites Spider magazine. In a year, this website gained massive popularity & became a complete Web Portal and Pakistan got its first E-Retail shop & E-Commerce website. Beliscity currently has more than 28,000 products listed including Grocery, Books, Laptops, Perfumes, Cosmetics, Office Products, Tools & Hardware, Networking products & Gift products.
Currently he is managing the site as General Manager with the new organization which took over the operations.
Besides his professional career, he is actively engaged in writing Blogs, Providing Business Consultancy, Conducting motivational trainings & working as a Social Activist & a Political Analyst.
Its very heartening to see that we have acquisitions happening in the industry and some one thought of buying the online business instead of investing in a clone.

Is this article a joke? Once again Green & White is so far away from reality and actual facts. Please fact check before your blindly publish what you are given. This sale happened almost a year ago, not recently. And it was a distress sale, nothing to be flaunted, it’s actually a very sad story if you get into details. My heart goes out to Abid for the sequence of events that led to this. Another misleading article by Green & White.

@Malik Jalal, I am aware of the things leading to the sale, however, lets look at the business only and not the personal events that led to the sale.
Even if it was sold in distress, point is that a running online business was sold successfully (so what if it was not sold for a retirement plan) , how many times we have seen this happening? do you not think that it shows that our online businesses are generating enough value to interest some one in buying it? Thus luring our entrepreneurs to develop sustainable online business in hope that one day they might be able to sell it off just like a brick and mortar business?
About the date of publishing the article, I published it when i learnt about it,
no where does it mention that it was sold yesterday. I will however update the selling date to clarify things (thanks for pointing it out).Ok it did say recently implying it was sold yesterday, updated the post.
