This is a sad news – three software companies have closed their operations in Pakistan.
Fueled by a hefty funding of 10 million USD from Motorola, Mobile Complete thrived and established well in Pakistan. The company has decided to release its staff and stop all operations in Pakistan. Mobile Complete received a comprehensive coverage on G&W, some three years back.
PixSense has also been in news for various reasons: they were our partners in Startup Insiders, they were winners ofP@SHA ICT Awards in 2007 and they had a tie in the communication category in APICTA. PixSense has been facingissues since early this year because of funds drying up rapidly; the company has now wound up its operations in Pakistan.
I can recall a number of companies that started with great enthusiasm, showed good results, and then fizzled out. Take the examples of Scrybe (funded by Adobe), Orgoo (featured by Tech Crunch) and Aboutus.org. None of these lacked in passion, expertise or strategy yet they did not make their way to sustainable success. This should be a point of concern for our industry leaders. Do we lack in proper exposure and infrastructure? Have we failed to establish a positive image of ourselves? Are we losing trust of the global technology industry? Is it just because of prevailing energy crisis, political instability, and poor situation of law and order?
Perhaps, this is time that we rally together and see where we stumble on our path to greater glories.
