WEX 2010, The local web community and blogosphere was abuzz with this event for few
days, I was unfortunate not to be able to go to Islamabad due to my commitments in Lahore but Uzair one of the people behind the whole event was gracious enough to take out some time and send us some summarized coverage of the event.
“The 3 day event went great with very positive feedback from all the participants.
The WebX Blogging Workshop was attended by about 60 participants including students, faculty members and professionals from Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The 4 hour session was conducted by four professional bloggers – Saad Hamid (sizlopedia.com), Shoaib Khan (xnews.pk), Uzair Sajid (thetechnopath.com, WCCFTech.com) and Hamad Dar (koolmuzone.com, smashinglists.com). The topics covered included everything from basics like what is a blog, a microblog, how to setup your own blog, how to monetize it and drive traffic through social networks as well as advanced topics like SEO, Adsense Optimization and Social Media Marketing.
The WebX Meetup and Success Stories session was attended by over 120 participants making it the largest gathering of professional bloggers ever in Islamabad/Rawalpindi. The panelists included Hamad Dar (koolmuzone.com), Imran Hussain (ithinkdiff.com), Taimur Asad (redmondpie.com), Aamir Atta (propakistani.pk), Zeeshan Shafquat (Social Media Evangelist), Affan Haider (Head of Corporate Communications and Responsibility Functions, Telenor Pakistan), ZunNurain Khalid (ultraspectra.com), and Nabeel Ahmed and Waqas Butt (xnews.pk).
The panel moderators for the session were Uzair Sajid (thetechnopath.com) and Shoaib Khan (xnews.pk). All the panelists shared their success stories and interacted with the audience of the session.
On Day 2, a talk session on Entrepreneurship was held. The keynote speech was delivered by Mr. Tariq Chaudhry (President & CEO, Falcon Engineering Group, and President of Pakistan Computer Society). Other Entrepreneurs who shared their stories included Shehryar Hydri (COO Trango Interactive), Sajjad Zaidi (President and CEO, iinix Solutions), Waleed Riaz (Director and Program Manager, Digital Prodigy Limited), and Zubair Khan (CEO, Tranchulas). The event was attended by about 100 participants.
Day 3 featured the Internet Marketing Workshop by Google and P@SHA which was delivered by Badar Khushnood (Country Consultant, Google Pakistan). The 3 hour session was attended by representatives of over 60 software houses and IT firms from Rawalpindi and Islamabad.â€
These events are needed for us at these time of turmoil, when a lot of our brain power is draining outside we seriously need networking events in which we are able to show out human resource capabilities to others while showing our own pool of professionals the opportunities that exists right here. I congratulate the people who took the idea and executed it.
And in the end special thanks to Uzair for the coverage
