MyShoe – oh…. great.
(Note the sarcasm in the headline)
I think Mashable described this better… an iphone application rejected by the App Store… but guess where it was made?!
An app called “MyShoe” that used the iPhone’s accelerometer to let users throw a shoe at the former President was denied by Apple, who “determined that we cannot post this version of your iPhone application to the App Store because it contains content that ridicules public figures,” according to the rejection letter received by the developer.
MyShoe’s developer, who is based in Pakistan, isn’t buying it, and believes this a free speech issue, writing “I feel this is huge discrimination against public opinion, as major portion of world rejects bush polices on Iraq and attacks on Pakistan.” Maybe so, but it’s important to remember that iTunes isn’t the open world of the Web, and it’s left up to Apple’s sole discretion as to what does and doesn’t make it into the App Store. That said, it’s important that Apple be an equal opportunity rejecter when it comes to apps that border on political satire, for obvious reasons.
Whee.

He could have been a little more creative and should have come up with something better. It’s sad to see that our developers are wasting their time on such useless work.

Farhan, don’t be so judgmental, that is exactly what memes are for – to make some quick money. A Pakistani arguing about “free speech” though, now THAT’s ironic… and even more so if you remember that 1984 ad by Apple :X

The application is easy to use. Users can simply use image library or take from iPhone camera, fit it in a template provided by MyShoe and click on “Hit Meâ€. Get ready on the countdown 3 – 2 – 1 and on “throwâ€, assume your iPhone a shoe and swing your arm to throw iPhone (without really throwing it). The Hate meter below will express the intensity of your anger. Save the picture in gallery and share the lovely moments with your friends.
