I didn't read such a technical based material before, as it is not my field. But it is really helpful and understandable.

They can see the source code of your HTML, and perhaps your JavaScript/CSS.

However, they will not have access to your server-side logic and your SQL structure. These are the more important aspects; the actual 'process' by which you create value.

You may also have other mechanisms to provide strategic advantages such as highly optimized database and web clusters, intelligent session management, machine learning profiles, etc.

It's not all about a pretty face (HTML), something beauty lies a step deeper :-)

Jaywalker - isnt he right in saying anyone can see your sourcecode on the web? How would you protect it?

Without going into too much detail, let me say that Mohtashim is wrong (or only partially right) at several places in his last post. For example, he says that anyone can read your source code if you have a web application.

It's good that people have neutralized his thoughts. Nobody is absolutely right. Ever.

Osama Sb,
I'll take the opp to quote your words.. "better == MORE RELEVANT ; MORE USABLE" -

This is spot on. In the end, you want to either reduce work, pain and expenses for your customer, or help them to create more value for their customers.

Golden advice... more of what makes me read every post on GNW. It's as applicable here in Canada as it is in Pakistan.

you really did put a lot of effort into this post didn't you :)

i like what you're saying, even though i might not agree with all of it right now.

but as you say, i work for a startup that isn't a startup anymore, so maybe my rules are a bit different.
