This isnt something you see everyday – here’s an entirely new way of interacting with computers, demostrated by Oblong Industries.
To be honest, multi-touch didnt create a wow moment for me from the TED talk that introduced it… maybe I’ve had a hard time really understanding how that could create dramatically new applications…. applications that are well beyond simply letting people use existing applications in slightly easier ways (hello pinching photos) and are infact can offer dramatically new breed of software-based computing.
Oblong’s technology does give me that feeling. Some people might notice that its a near direct port from the movie "Minority Report" and in fact one of the Science Advisors from the film worked Oblong to create this platform.
However, the impact that technology like this could have reaches far beyond the aesthetics shown in the film – in the demo below they show some examples in video compositing, wave analysis and geographic analysis. One gesture that I really find interesting is the "pull back towards you in space" which is used here for zooming out.

What type of applications do you think would be a great use this tech?

The future is here! I wonder how long before this technology is publicly available, that is, there are products in the market utilizing this technology.
Thanks for sharing.

i think gspeak could be very usefull to digital theater, like perfoming in real time video arts in screens by an external operator or even by an actor on stage ! i think it could be very nice interaction , specially see it live.

yes i believe that.. it was the first thing that came in my mind after i saw this video and ofcourse how easier could be the video editing with such kind of tool. and the truth is after i touch the mouse and the keyboard to do some video edit i felt like primitive
it could be very nice if i had the opportunity to use gspeak sometime in a digital theater act but now i think i cant effort this for sure.
anyway these were just my thoughts about it.
it is really wonderful this gspeak!
good night!
