Misleading Tariff for Warid Postpaid

Cellular companies in Pakistan are indulged in a play that rapes the consumers’ rights. We have seen so many instances where cellular companies mislead or not fully educate their customers regarding pricing, hence making a significant amount of black money.

Until now, we were witnessing such practices with either a single package or a single product, but Warid Telecom has dared to present whole range of their post-paid packages without mentioning the pulse rate. Thanks to Mr. Saeed Alam who met me at Ufone franchise (Commercial Market, Rawalpindi); he was there to shift his network from Warid to Ufone (through MNP), due to this particular cheat by Warid.

All prices are quoted for 30 seconds pulse rate on Warid’s official webpage, without exclusively mentioning it, which leads to a very confusing situation for customers.

So what happens is that users opt for packages that offer very attractive prices, but they never know that the pulse rate is 30 seconds instead of 1 minute. Yea a huge bill shakes and defiantly brings them back to their senses from a fantasy world where they think that Warid can offer them Rs. 0.70 per minute for off-net calls (we know that interconnect charges are Rs. 1.20 per minute, so off net calls can never be less than 1.20 in any case)

Is there any one who can fight for consumers? I guess no; PTA is going to take severe action against Warid by posting a "Notice" on a pop-up window when you open PTA’s website. That’s it…

So keep bearing!

  • I left my warid postpaid line because of the same reason

  • No wonder their bill was higher than mobilink with the same amount of usage!

  • Happened to me as well, but i would like to mention that before converting my package, the CS person exclusively told me that these are 30 seconds billing packages and cannot be converted back to old 1 minutes billing packages!

  • the nobleness of CS does not spare the company to misquote anything on their website…! specifically when you can’t reverse your 1 minute (old) package.

  • This is with all companies in Pakistan. Being weasel with their ads. Wateen with /15 seconds, Telenor 30 seconds, Philips with 16.1 inches of monitor as 17 inch monitor and my favorite American Award for Quality.

Europe have good laws for these type of weasel ads by weasel companies.

  • salam, i have noticed that Telenor is also becoming expensive. Call Rates local & International beefup.Sms rates are also uneffordable? Is other networks have same Situation??

    Comments Plz

  • Below terms and conditions are mentioned in quite readable fonts below postpaid tariff on WARID website. Pulse is mentioned over there from day 1. It’s just our habit (as Pakistani’s) to ignore terms & conditions and to jump on collusions based upon assumptions.

    Terms & Conditions

All charges are exclusive of government taxes and levies including sales tax at 21% and advance withholding tax at 10%

Prices are subject to change at Warid’s discretion

FnF include 5 On-Net Numbers (Warid to Warid)

Postpaid tariff rates are applicable on 30 seconds billing pulse.

MMS is charged both for receiving and sending

    MMS unit is a message of size 100kb off-net and 250kb on-net

Mobile Internet unit is per 64KB

For Postpaid connection‚ please make sure that you submit your Warid connection form with a copy of your NIC (along with a copy of 3 paid utility bills in case the NIC address does not match the billing address)

Zoom Unlimited SMS offer is applicable for a subscription of Rs.210 + tax for 7500 SMS/MMS per month

Zoom Unlimited SMS offer & Caller Tune activation charges are Rs.2 +tax

Weekend rates are from 12:00 AM (Sat) to 11:59 PM (Sun)

  • @ Shah

Thanks for commenting, however, pulse rate in these terms and conditions appeared only after this post.

Another thing, this point (mentioned in terms and conditions) All charges are exclusive of government taxes and levies including sales tax at 21% and advance withholding tax at 10% was also added latter (obviously after budget).

Unfortunately, i don’t have screen shot of this page (when i filed this post on June 22, 2008) to prove you wrong that the pulse rate was given from day one.

    Regards

    Food Connection Pakistan

I happened to be in Quetta on a business trip last month with no idea of where to dine alone. Being a typical Lahoriite, a die-hard food lover, it matters to me that I try the best food of the place I visit. So this is where FCPakistan came to my rescue. I simply logged in, typed in my desired specifications and got atleast 5 suggestions.

The listing included their opening times, specific facilities like ease for physically disabled customers, credit card acceptance, smoking areas, take away facility, whether valet parking was available or not, and even directions to get there! What more could you want.

    Although that was the…

OLX Pakistan Investing heavily in advertisement

OLX is a global online retailer and auction site. They have an impressive footprint in a little less than 100 countries, each with their own specific domain (like .pk for Pakistan and .in for India).

In Pakistan they have been operating under olx.com.pk for some time with people using it to sell things online.

Recently they have started advertising heavily on Television, a medium seldom used by online businesses previously. The ads (two of which have appeared ) are witty and fun to watch.

The most important factor of these adds is that they are being advertised on media which previously none of our online businesses have used.

    Most of…

Second Pakistan Blog Awards by CIO Faces severe criticism

CIO Pakistan started blog awards last year. Its is a good sign when some one takes initiative and starts some thing new. However its also difficult to introduce this into an already budding field of new media in Pakistan. Last years (or two years back now since its 2012)  Awards were initiated so as it is expected it faced initial growing up pains. It always takes time for such thing to wins the trust of the community. And bloggers are one of the most hard people to win over, most of these are rebels in their own rights people who have started blogging to show the world their opinion…

Do We Vote : A great statistical tool by PakReport.org

Pakreport.org a tool which was instrumental in gathering statistics during the massive flooding in Pakistan, has created another study/stats gathering tool for our electoral activities. Interestingly its called do we vote

With political scene in Pakistan heating up it provides very valuable information to party supporters and their leaders.  A quick look at it shows the all known facts that people in rural areas take their voting more seriously than all of us supposedly educated and enlightened urban population.

Pakreport.org was an initiative launched by Faisal Chohan of BrightSpyre during the floods, the effort enabled people on the ground to send sms (the most spread out communication medium in country)…

Stay for the work not the perks

This is a revelation that came to me when I recently quit my comfy corporate job for the second time. If you are below 40 and some one asks you about how is your job going and your answer is not in tune of “I like my job because I love the work”.

You need to pause and asses your career, last time I answered this question my answer was “I like the job, because the benefits are good”, and that made me think (offcourse there were other factors as well). But if you are doing a job in which to satisfy your own self you have to look at…
