Apple just launched their first store in Pakistan in Lahore in a partnership with Raffles Computers. The store is called “iRaffles”. The US Ambassador to Pakistan inaugrated the “Apple Computers store” last week.

I have visited the store, its located between Mini Market and Main Market, before Mobilink main office. Well, its not comparable to Apple Stores, the fame they and the rave they share, but its a nice effort. Honestly, there wasn’t anything new for me as I’m already a mac user and through shophive have almost seen the whole apple/mac universe we can offer to people in Pakistan.
Well, on the plus points you can check out the New Macbook AIR – its really thin and light. And there is definitely no Iphone there to play with , as its not authorized for our part of the world yet!

technically its not Apple store. they are premium Apple resellers. But they do have almost all the Apple products, including a lovely Mac Book Air

But that’s the point though – I can get and see a Macbook Air on any local apple resellers (there are 4 official resellers at a 5-min drive from where I live, and one of them has a pretty nice showcase too).

Researching Apple for starting development on iPhone SDK, it just seems they make it very hard for a non-Mac world person to enter the Mac world.

adnan: you can use toolchain for windows to develop applications for iphone but to use the full suite of tools that give you full and rich debuging and dev experience you need to have a mac..
its pretty much same as developing apps for windows mobile devices
I have been working on iPhone app for a while now and their SDK is very neat and getting mature now.. its a fun little device

I have heard a vmware/virtualbox installation sort of works – and I think a Hackintosh (!tm) would probably let you play with the SDK.

I do not know there are two stores or one.
The store is in PACE Lahore. I visited last day it was not a very big one like of Apple standard but it is a good effort to put Apple on display. I will share the picture with you guys very soon.
The store name is iStore and according to store management MD Apple inaugurated it. I have their card with me you can contact Mr. Atif Afzaal (Cell: 0333-4287818) for more details as he is managing the Lahore operations ..

Just visited the apple store in PACE. It is called iStore. First I contacted Mr. Atif Afzaal on the number Kashif Adeel provided above. Funny thing is Mr Afzaal stated he does not know of any other apple store in town. Anyways I went there and found it to be a soap box sided place displaying 4 laptops, a Mac Mini, and a few iPods (and that is what they seem to be concentrating on. By the way their price for iPod is Rs. 23,000.)
I inquired about getting a Mac Pro and an XServe with two 30″ Cinema Display and was informed Apple does not make one bigger than 20″.
I told him they did. Then he called someone and handed me the phone (Was this the other store that supposedly doesn’t exist?) I gave the guy my specs and he said he will email me in 30 minutes with the pricing. That was 2 hours ago. 
Anyways, I will visit the iRaffles Store maybe tomorrow and check that out. Hope staff there is more knowledgeable and more stuff is available. I really do need a Mac Pro and the options I plan to add are NVidai 8800 G card, 4x1TB HDs, Raid, 4 Gig Ram, OSX Server, 30″ Display, Air port at the very least. Let’s see how the experience goes….

Multiply price in $$$$ by 77 and you get the price for the system you want in rupees (Having talked to all of the aple resellers here in Pakistan, seems these days they are using the Rs.77 = $1 conversion rate to come up with their price). Most systems available — if at all — are older models. If you want to order the latest or with some custom configuration, you have to place an order, pay 50% advance and WAIT. They all tell you delivery in 2 to 4 weeks but none deliver. I know ’cause I just screamed at my vendor yesterday for delaying it another 6 days after the 3 weeks promised and not delivering it after 4 and now even further delay (All i wanted extra was a spare HD and NVidia graphics card).

I have seen a standalone official apple store in Pace on ground floor on right side when i asked them about the iPhone they said they are the official store and as apple hasn’t launched iphone in Pakistan they don’t have it yet but it will be coming soon ! may be December is correct ?

Just to clarify: That little store is called “iStore” I believe and is the retail outlet for Concept Computers located on Cavalry Ground main boulevard. Concept Computers are I think the oldest retailers of Apple in Lahore. The supposed “official” store is on M M Alam road and is called “iRaffles” and run by Raffle Computers. Actually it too is not “Official” “Apple Store” but just a reseller. All these stores buy their stuff from the really official Apple Store in Singapore. So anything you see on the Apple Store Singapore site, they can get it for you. Of course you have to wait at least 4 weeks for delivery on items not available in stock locally.

Dude, I don’t understand the big fuss. Don’t be cheap guys. If you are buying Xserve and with options. You have money so why don’t you just order it overseas and have Fedex or UPS deliver it your door step. And no it won’t break during shipment. Apple packs things very carefully. I just bought Macbook pro latest (Aluminum) online and got at my door in 13 days. It was packed in two boxes. with lots of foam inside. Yes I paid 200 bucks for delivery but in the end it was well work the wait. I even got UPS tracking number.
