Capital Radio – a GPRS and web-based live radio station
Capital Radio is the brainchild of media-industry veteran Adnan Shaukat, CEO of Classic Entertainment, who is now at the forefront of moving the Pakistani music industry to the online / digital age, legally.
Their first venture in this bold new space is a GPRS-based radio station that you can also listen to live via www.capitalradio.com.pk and Winamp. The important part of this, though, is that Capital Radio actually owns exclusive rights to the digital distribution and sales of Pakistani music online. This must have been a massive investment and a pretty good asset base to acquire.
So in other words if Apple ever wanted to distribute iPhones + iTunes loaded with PK songs here, Adnan is the only person they can do this through.
Right now Adnan is looking for different ways of extending this asset base of Pakistani songs online – he is working to set up sales and distribution partnerships with Amazon and iTunes, and looking to work with passionate techies who can help him create platforms around this asset base. If you do have something that would be a perfect fit for legal music distribution, come and meet Adnan at SI8.
Maybe the Wixd people could think about working with Capital Radio to remove their IP challenges.

How is it that capitalradio has exclusive rights to all pakistani media? And for how many years? I always thought media rights in Pakistan was a murky area with labels and artist at it.
