BuzzPK is a project by Mohtashim that aggregates the RSS feeds for the most-read tech and news blogs and papers from the local industry into one scanning-friendly interface.
The interface as a whole is a bit of an Alltop clone (Guy Kawasaki venture) but both say they were inspired by Popurls. Robert Scoble recently raved about how this scanning-friendly headline focused interface seems like a much better news reader for him compared to tranditional RSS readers.
The dynamics of this service is the same as any homepage aggregator service like igoogle and others – they all want you to make them your browser’s front page, and thus capture a lot of guaranteed *before search engine* traffic. Monetizing that traffic is then easier, as long as they keep coming back to the site atleast once a day as a starting point for their “daily hunt for information”.
I think BuzzPK is a very cool site – it certainly does help me to get a quick snapshot of all the buzz in the popular tech bloggers of PK, much more quickly than loading my ever-bloating Google Reader.
Good stuff Mohtashim – keep us posted on other nice tinkering.
