Pakistan Post – a relevant brand?
Pakistan Post has been facing a dilapidating business that has been decreasing at 20% due to alternative hi-tech means for people to stay in touch.
In an attempt to completely reinvent themselves and bring a fresh face to the organization, I hereby present the new face of Pakistan Post (well its been around for months but new for expats I’m sure):
Seriously, is this really the best brand they could have found?
Someone, please explain to me how this logo is related in any way to anything Pakistan Post Office stands for?
How is this going to reinvent an organization who has been reputable for being a vortex where you lose any mail you’re trying to send out?
Oh… wait.. in that case, its very relevant!
Update: Their Website actually has a “RATIONALE FOR LOGO” webpage, which is worse than the image itself.
THAT’s why you should never hire graphic designers to build brands — they dont know anything about branding! Things like “Attracts attention” is not part of a brand.
Hit the link for the Rationale in its entirety.
Rationale of the Logo
The logo consists of two elements.
1. The yellow motif
a. The graphical representation of a connection being made. It depicts the
concept of bringing things closer as the tagline suggests “Sab Faslay Mitaey”. It is
about eliminating all distances and making tangible connections through postal
communication.
2. The specially designed word mark which is the brand name.
a. Designed to compliment the motif, giving Pakistan Post a more
modern look overall.
The red color in the logo:
- Attracts attention, making the logo more noticeable even in smaller
sizes (Such as Stamps)
- Creates some association with the previous identity, which helps
in brand recall
The yellow color in the logo:
– Is also attention-getting
– Signifies a more positive outlook for the brand’s future, as it is a very
optimistic color.
