Career Fairs: What are they? How to get the maximum out of them

Some of you might have noticed the appearance of P@SHA logo at the top of green and white. PASHA is organizing a very interesting career fair for everyone, with seminars, coaching and ofcourse, employers!

Lets start with “What are career Fairs” for both employees and companies
No! Its not just what seems obvious — read on for some deeper perspectives.
In one sentence these are the events at which a graduate can find maximum companies at a single place and employers can find excellent opportunity to project themselves. It presents an unmatchable opportunity for new startups to gain momentum and raise awareness amongst the industry about their existence.
For Companies
It presents an opportunity to showcase themselves. Companies can use these fairs to present the kind of work they are doing, and the environment they provide.
Presenting at fairs is more effective than any newspaper ad as you are present there live, and usually interact directly with the people who want to learn about you.
What impact does this have on your publicity? If you are good and handle the queries well enough chances are good professionals and graduates will start noticing you. This is because people who had a chance to interact with you will be going back and talking about you to their peers “Do you know there is a company xyz doing excellent work in this domain ” and the ripple effects gets you more publicity than any other campaign.
Like Osama has mentioned here, this is a great place to see the immediate effects of “the network effect” — which is definitely more powerful than anything advertising will give you.
For Graduates/Professionals
This is a rare opportunity for you to find out not just job openings, but where the entire industry is heading.
Check out the trends. If you are looking out for any specific interests and specializations (Read my article on specialization here) this is the best platform to find it.
No where else will you find a sea of professionals gathered together at a single platform (well, nowhere other than Green & White ofcourse!). Go out there, see what is going on in the industry and try practicing your interviewing skills.
In a single day meet with representatives of many companies which are there and dedicated to answering your queries about work behaviors and patterns and are looking to select you for your next best job.
