Open Discussion: Money, Stability, Work — Which Two?
This is more of a question for all or readers than a post so in your comments open up a discussion. Which of the three things in the post title are important for you?
It is said about product manufacturing “Good, Cheep and Fast(Production Wise)” Pick two, you can’t have all three.
My experience has identified three things that make people leave or take a job: Money Stability and Kind of work. During my limited time as a professional and observing the ups and down of industry, I have reached a conclusion that out of these three no employer can offer all three — atleast certainly in the local market of Pakistan.
Working at startups can be risky since they do not offer job stability, but generally offer good money and many a times exciting opportunities and work.
Veteran Companies offer good amount of stability but hold back a little in the pay departments.
The employers having monotonous work offer good packages (Think call centers) and stability but usually the work is reptitive and boring.
So if you were to pick up any two of these what would be your pick?
I Pick money and work (don’t hold that against me

The theory goes: There is no stability anywhere left in the world, because you are compensated only as far as you continue to outperform your competition. (Darwinism on steroids if you will).
The next theory goes that if you do work that is worth doing, money will follow anyway.
So there’s really only one choice: Do the things that are worth telling your grandkids about.

Well an environment where one can professionlay grow and work with High end technologies is ideal one. Stability in terms of companies policies and its culture is important as well. Money will come by it self. no need to worry about that…..

well, I think it depends on ones prorities in life. IMO, at start of the career focus should be on learning not on money. and in companies where employees are not treated well, no matter how big they are and they pay hige checks, ppl will be leavig quite often. In startups as well, managers have to provide an enviorment where employees are at ease you cannot retain ppl longer by payig them high. Nice thing would be to have a blend of all the above three. Its easy to stay with any two of the above factors, But a good company would be one who offers 3 of them,A Challenge for all of us…

well my theory is to work at some startup..
which obviously means more diversity and hence learning in the work. Stick with them and earn a good position(role+more money).. if the company does not show results in lets say 3 years, switch to a bigger and more stable company then
