pakistani tweeters rejoice! mobi2weet comes to our rescue!
August 31st, 2009 at 1:24 pmjaywalker: on a separate note.. “The issue is not whether you say that you won’t misuse the passwords or not. The problem is that how can I trust you. And even more than that, how can I trust each and every employee you have (and will hire in future). I hope you get my point.” is the perfect case for getting certified for information security
pakistani tweeters rejoice! mobi2weet comes to our rescue!
August 30th, 2009 at 9:46 pmjaywalker: not really, for twitter, it’s using oAuth, which basically is the twitter authentication. i dont think mobi2weet keeps the passwords at all. and the same goes for facebook authentication.

Problem Solving in IT Series - Sales / Marketing
July 11th, 2009 at 10:36 amanthony: brilliant response! you are quite right that sales/marketing is the black box here and the insight that you provided of wipro n infosys as examples was just wonderful!
i’ll be using your idea’s for more blog posts here in the future, please do keep contributing!
imran: i completely agree. i run a regional sales/marketing function in addition to other responsibilities, and the number of idea’s that get shot down are just incredible.. so i know exactly what you mean.
Problem Solving in IT Series - Individual Training & Certifications
July 9th, 2009 at 11:19 pm@jay: very true, this is an opinion and based on personal experience. however, in the absence of much ‘basis’, isn’t that all we have to go on?
Problem Solving in IT Series - Individual Training & Certifications
July 7th, 2009 at 9:27 amjay: even if they dont, the people who need the trainings can always use this argument in their favour
by the way, what’s wrong with having good growth because you are good at communication? when did we forget that at the end, each business always boils down to ‘people’, and we ‘people’ need to communicate and are happier with those who do.
also, this entire series will give a whole springboard of idea’s for people to convince management at their firms ONLY if they’re good at communicating.
if someone just knows stuff, and doesn’t communicate, then it’s useless no? think about it for a bit… kind of like if a tree falls in a forest :p

Blogging by the Government of Pakistan?
June 26th, 2009 at 12:59 pmabdussamad: then it’s a simple matter of no proper licensing. If a license is not present, then the work can be subsumed as part of a larger project, provided the original source is still credited, which it is in this case.
So probably it wont be ethical, but ‘stealing’ would be labelling it too far.
Blogging by the Government of Pakistan?
June 25th, 2009 at 11:57 amabdussamad: prove that the design is actually ‘stolen’, all you’ve proven is that it was made by someone else.
there is no text anywhere, no license of usage that i can find which says that the theme should be linked back to the original site (or to sponsored sites either). not on the designers website, not in the theme source files…?
it’s all well and good to criticize, but at least back it up before you do.
tania: good 2 see you here
How "young" do you need to be to start your own company?
June 23rd, 2009 at 10:24 pmn shah: experience is usually more important in business, not just online vs offline. you can have a very good idea with a good execution plan, but sustaining it requires a fair amount of experience.
Kudos Series - 3: A requiem for Cressoft, and tipped hats to PSEB
December 3rd, 2008 at 1:05 pmMy company is also founded by one of the cressoft graudates, and from the leadership style we have here, i can only imagine what kind of a place cressoft was.
yes, it did make mistakes and went down, but the structure they back then was far far ahead of it’s time.
Startups: Is Tech really irrelevant? Is Sales all that matters?
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:53 amyou really did put a lot of effort into this post didn’t you
i like what you’re saying, even though i might not agree with all of it right now.
but as you say, i work for a startup that isn’t a startup anymore, so maybe my rules are a bit different.
BizSpark - Microsoft's support for the Startups
November 6th, 2008 at 6:39 pmThank you Osama. Good 2 be back.
The move is obvious and MS does promote similar programs for startups in the US. The one difference here is that it’s global.
secondly, it’s a very good strategic move. Consider this, most of their bigger clientele, i.e. the enterprise, are slowly moving away from desktop applications and inhouse solutions to SaaS after the success stories of services like SalesForce etc. Now, that means that the biggest revenue pie at MS, i.e. the enterprise software business, might go packing.
Now MS can’t really go and start buying up all these little startups so that they end up making all SaaS solutions themselves, so they do the next best thing. Make sure the SaaS services are delivered using their products!!
It’s actually quite brilliant! They can’t compete with infrastructure providers yet (e.g. Amazon’s S3 or Dell’s upcoming service) and with this move, they dont need to either.
What is IT Governance?
August 6th, 2008 at 6:58 pmcorona: voting is optional
just enjoy (and learn) from the slideshow.
ashwan: i’ll email you!
farrukh: what part of “IT Governance” is not interesting for IT professionals? secondly, whether you like it or not, its becoming a reality for our industry real fast. you know that one one of your biggest organization’s start having roles like “Manager IT Governance”.
as for promoting myself, i dont see why it’s “criminal” here? i’m not promoting my car or my cat for that matter am i?
IT Exports Growing - $175M worth exported in FY07-08
July 25th, 2008 at 5:33 pmobi: you can take a look at http://www.businessbeam.com/sqa.html for a course outline we offer. however, i’d also like to add that for effective training, these topics have to be augmented by a lot of hands on discussions+workshops otherwise its just a one-way transfer of knowledge which doesn’t benefit anyone.
ali: beautifully summed up the current scenario. that’s my perspective as well. For quite a few companies here, revenue’s have taken a giant upwards leap and i’m also happy to see that quite a few companies are also investing the same back into their people instead of just pocketing it. We need such forward thinkers and institution builders to make the industry a viable one.
National Youth Business Plan Competition 2008
July 15th, 2008 at 10:42 amujmi & osama: its a start. this competition is for ‘business plans’ not for setting up businesses. if an idea is good enough and if the idea owners can sell it, then investment will find its own way no?
my POV (and feel free to disagree, i know u want to
) is that the act of writing a business plan will act as a catalyst to generate growth sometime in the future. think of this competition as sowing the seeds. you wont see immediate benefits (two-ten companies sprouting up based on winning BPs) but the people who wrote them might set up the same within 5 or even 10 years down the road.

Is coding masculine or feminine?
June 16th, 2008 at 8:33 pmosama: the picture was supposedly of a unisex restroom :p you know.. considered sometimes to be the extremest form of ‘equality’
midhat: interesting observation.. we have a limited population, but why isn’t there a fair representation between those professionals being women? what is holding them back?
shafiq & UJMi: care to comment about why this is happening? whether its because these girls are conditioned that way? or that they are not capable in the first place?
ansar: i’d like to come interview your development staff someday! its at least good to know some women in IT out there
