the message got truncated because of "less than sign" so here it goes again...

... very small number of our users (less than 10%) have chosen the sms based registration. Again, if you register thru website, we do NOT take your password. It gets authenticated through Twitter (just like FB Connect and other similar services).

I hope this is clear. If there are still any questions please contact us at support @ mobi2weet . com. We usually reply all queries within 1 working day.

Best wishes,

@JayWalker,

As I said we do NOT have passwords for facebook or twitter accounts. You "allow" us to access your twitter and fb streams and can disallow at anytime. We have no access to your passwords. Of course with "reg" command you explicitly give us your username/password and for this we have added privacy policy on our page.

We totally respect your opinion and at the end of the day, you are free to trust us or not. There could be many other services online which request your username/password and it's your discretion who you want to trust. All we can do is simply provide our profile, privacy policy etc. and hope that you would trust us.

Please remmeber that only a very small number of our users (

jaywalker: on a separate note.. "The issue is not whether you say that you won’t misuse the passwords or not. The problem is that how can I trust you. And even more than that, how can I trust each and every employee you have (and will hire in future). I hope you get my point." is the perfect case for getting certified for information security :D

Dear mobi2weet Support,

The issue is not whether you say that you won't misuse the passwords or not. The problem is that how can I trust you. And even more than that, how can I trust each and every employee you have (and will hire in future). I hope you get my point.

If I were you, I'd not provide this feature without making the users understand the threat (several times by accepting terms and conditions).

@jaywalker, we do not keep the passwords for Facebook AT ALL. You basically allow install our facebook application and that's it! All that does is accessing your wall and profile - like other Facebook apps.

For Twitter, there are two ways. Online via Twitter oAuth authentication. Using this, we do not get any information about your password - Twitter gives us some authentication keys that are used to verify credentials.

You could also register directly via SMS by sending 'reg twitter_username twitter_password'. This was the most straight forward implementation that we did to start the service initially (as an experiment) and decided to keep it there just in case, someone wants to register directly via SMS. Even in that case, we keep passwords like meebo, plaxo or other services i.e. we do not abuse them at all.

Hope this clarifies any misunderstandings.

Best wishes and do try the service :)

jaywalker: not really, for twitter, it's using oAuth, which basically is the twitter authentication. i dont think mobi2weet keeps the passwords at all. and the same goes for facebook authentication.
