We are using world call EVDO for quite some time and it is ok for normal net use, but for downloading it is terribly slow. We are only getting 5 KB/s to 9.5 KB/s and most of the time it drops further to mere 0.75 KB/s to 1.5 KB/s this is a lousy downloading speed for EVDO 512 K package, at times it is frustrating to use World call evdo. 512K is considered to be a fast speed but in reality it is slow so slow and it will make yell with anger….what we have paid for and what service we are getting can some one using wi-tribe evDo or pTcL EVO could kindly share or comment as to their experiences with using EVDO wireless internet.

PTCL EVO is 3.1Mps link its not 3.1MB. Watch it. If you do binary math you will came to know max speed is 3.1Mbps=3000 Kbps=375 KB/sec.
So the normal speed they you can experience on PTCL EVO is 40-50 KB/sec.

Hi,
I have been using Worldcall EVDO 256K for more than a year now and it is wokring fine. There were few signal problems earlier but i noticed that after the lauch of PTCL EVO the signal and sevice both have been improved. The only thing which some time annoys me is different speed in different areas. Apart from this it has been very helpful tool in terms of maximum mobility.

I am using 1MB Landline PTCL DSL sharing with three neighbors. I have very good speed. I am downloading upto 125 KBPS, from rapidshare, hotfile and other servers, usually 300MB per hour.
My friend has EVO device he is also getting excellent speed, we downloaded 700 in 50 minutes. I don’t know why you have slow speed.
