Cellular companies in Pakistan are indulged in a play that rapes the consumers’ rights. We have seen so many instances where cellular companies mislead or not fully educate their customers regarding pricing, hence making a significant amount of black money.
Until now, we were witnessing such practices with either a single package or a single product, but Warid Telecom has dared to present whole range of their post-paid packages without mentioning the pulse rate. Thanks to Mr. Saeed Alam who met me at Ufone franchise (Commercial Market, Rawalpindi); he was there to shift his network from Warid to Ufone (through MNP), due to this particular cheat by Warid.
All prices are quoted for 30 seconds pulse rate on Warid’s official webpage, without exclusively mentioning it, which leads to a very confusing situation for customers.
So what happens is that users opt for packages that offer very attractive prices, but they never know that the pulse rate is 30 seconds instead of 1 minute. Yea a huge bill shakes and defiantly brings them back to their senses from a fantasy world where they think that Warid can offer them Rs. 0.70 per minute for off-net calls (we know that interconnect charges are Rs. 1.20 per minute, so off net calls can never be less than 1.20 in any case)
Is there any one who can fight for consumers? I guess no; PTA is going to take severe action against Warid by posting a "Notice" on a pop-up window when you open PTA’s website. That’s it…
So keep bearing!

No wonder their bill was higher than mobilink with the same amount of usage!

Happened to me as well, but i would like to mention that before converting my package, the CS person exclusively told me that these are 30 seconds billing packages and cannot be converted back to old 1 minutes billing packages!

the nobleness of CS does not spare the company to misquote anything on their website…! specifically when you can’t reverse your 1 minute (old) package.

This is with all companies in Pakistan. Being weasel with their ads. Wateen with /15 seconds, Telenor 30 seconds, Philips with 16.1 inches of monitor as 17 inch monitor and my favorite American Award for Quality.
Europe have good laws for these type of weasel ads by weasel companies.

Below terms and conditions are mentioned in quite readable fonts below postpaid tariff on WARID website. Pulse is mentioned over there from day 1. It’s just our habit (as Pakistani’s) to ignore terms & conditions and to jump on collusions based upon assumptions.

@ Shah
Thanks for commenting, however, pulse rate in these terms and conditions appeared only after this post.
Another thing, this point (mentioned in terms and conditions) All charges are exclusive of government taxes and levies including sales tax at 21% and advance withholding tax at 10% was also added latter (obviously after budget).
Unfortunately, i don’t have screen shot of this page (when i filed this post on June 22, 2008) to prove you wrong that the pulse rate was given from day one.
