  5. WateenUser Said:

maybe because i paid for it , and you cant really use it , its like an abuse to boadband, using it just to browse pages, so not worth the seemingly lower wateen prices, its a major rip off/disrespect to ones hard earned money!

and just for the record torrents p2p arnt illegal, no isp is ever required to ban them or anything…unless ofcourse the isp is messed up in the head and thinks it can get away with it, like wateen here.

WateenUser is not the only one with issues with Wateen. Of all the people I have talked to (corporate customers, home users etc) its a very common theme. Wateen has some serious internal issues and I don’t see it going very far as a strong brand.

  2. mp Said:

I respectfully disagree. Since Wateen started, I’ve had excellent download rates going beyond simple browsing. I use torrents on a regular basis, and can easily download about 4-5 files in as many hours (with each file being between 250-700mb). It’s a solid connection thus far, with the only real problem being that the router has to be placed on the first floor of the house, positioned in a specific location in order to receive full service. On a 512k connection, I’ve been having it much, much better than the same load on PTCL Broadband, before they upgraded us to 1M that is. But Wateen’s fine.

  3. mp Said:

ETA: The files range from 350-700, not 250.

Wateen is supper cool its all rubbish that its not working or stuff … in Karachi near moasmiat its working fine and i don’t see any reason not to buy it except 10 gb limit. its better then local cabel its better then dsl also but still they are gonna introduce many options

  5. Meraj Khattak Said:

I have been using Wateen from the last two months and it is providing me a very good service.

I have subscribed to 512Kbps and the speed very rarely goes down 50-60KB, when I am downloading anything.

  6. Qazi Said:

Well some people are happy, i guess the problem then might be they need to teach their sales staff to educate the customer about the significance of placing the router in a proper position, unfortunately i don’t have a first floor , is a single story house and every now and then the signal just disappears and starts searching

  7. Sawant Said:

Wateen’s service is excellent! I have been using Wateen since a month, and it has always given me great speeds for both browsing and downloading!

I had installed both DU Meter and Net Meter to track my use (so that I could know when I go beyond the 10GB limit), and through them I witnessed that my MAX speed was going upto: 1.0 Mbps (YES!), especially when I downloaded torrents!

The biggest advantage of having Wateen (WiMax actually) is that it’s easily portable. My primary use is at home. But right now, I am connected to Wateen from my office, which is at a distance of like 10 KM from my home … and it’s working perfectly here too!

There are a few drawbacks. The one that I hate the most is providing “NEW” login/username if you get disconnected from the Wateen network, as the one you were logged in with is NOT logged out automatically if you are disconnected (until it’s timed out at their end, which is probably like an hour!)

Second, their DNS services at the back-end are totally crap! I had to use OpenDNS addresses. Though I think they have been improved a lot.

All in all, I am HIGHLY satisfied with Wateen!

  8. Sawant Said:

I think the people who are facing problems with Wateen’s services, might be due to the following reasons:

    - Location/Area
    - Placement of the CPE

  9. Ts Said:

I think it depends a lot on the area you live in. I know a couple of ppl who are very happy with wateen. I live in Phase 1, DHA, Lahore and it absolutely sucks here. I’ve had it about a mth and I’ve experienced a number of problems with it.
    1. I signed up for the 512kbps package but get only 256. I’ve called Wateen almost every day since the beginning of the mth but have gotten nowhere. The first week or so the ppl on the phone had no idea what to do and sent me to random Wateen offices all over town to log my complaint. I was not provided any complaint number even when I asked for one, but was asked for a complaint number for my prev complaint every time I called to complain again. One of these ppl finally called me back and told me the problem would be sorted out by Mar 15th, which it wasn’t. I called back on Mar 15, and was given the ‘will be sorted out in 24 hrs’ routine for the next three days. Mar 18th I was told that 80% of the customers had been sorted out and the remaining 20% would be by the end of the day. Mar 18-Mar 25th the service would either not work or was so slow that I wouldn’t even be able to get the login page, so I wasn’t very concerned abt the speed. Mar 25th, after several complaints, the service was up and running again, but again only at 256 kbps. Called 111 365 111 again, was told someone would contact me within 24 hrs, which they did, only to tell me that my speed would be upgraded on the 31st. 31st, no action, called them again, was told ‘oh, actually it’s the 1st of april, check again at midnight tonight’. Again, nothing done, called them again at 2 am, they’re supposed to get back to me within 24 hrs.
    2. Service is very interrupted. My internet doesn’t work at all for a few hours during the day (Online, DS/US lights are off) and is painfully slow (most sites time out- google’s pretty much the only one that loads) for another few hours. Between these two problems I get max 2 hours of peaceful browsing/download time in a day.
    3. Customer service reps at 111 365 111, though very polite- painfully so at times- ask you to go through the same routine- unplugging modem, taking out battery, pressing the reset button, deleting cookies, checking tcp/ip settings, deleting history, deleting temp files, and generally banging your head against the computer before they log your complaint and give you a complaint number. I understand this for ppl calling for the first time, but for someone calling for the umpteenth time and providing them with 5 previous complaint numbers should not be made to spend half an hour at a time on the phone with them. My computer does not magically change it’s TCP/IP settings from automatic to manual three times a day and I don’t get a chance to build a history considering I delete it thrice a day.
    4. Their technical support team has visited me twice and wanted to or changed my modem and splitter every time which has fixed nothing. So either they’ve been handing out faulty equipment or their tech team knows jack.

BOTTOMLINE: DON’T GET WATEEN. IT MAY TURN OUT TO BE AN EXCELLENT SERVICE 6 MTHS FROM NOW ONCE THEY SORT OUT THEIR TEETHING PROBLEMS BUT IT ISN’T RIGHT NOW. ATLEAST CHECK WITH SOMEONE IN THE SAME LOCALITY WHO’S USING IT BEFORE YOU GET IT. I HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH WORLDCALL WHEN THEY STARTED BUT NOTHING CLOSE TO THIS. RIGHT NOW, WORLD CALL WAS ACTUALLY WORKING PRETTY WELL FOR ME, BUT I GOT TEMPTED BY THE SPEED CLAIMS AND JUMPED THE WATEEN WAGON. I SORELY REGRET IT NOW.
WATEENUSER: I READ IN ONE OF YOUR PREV POSTS THAT YOU SENT THE CEO AND SOMEONE ELSE AN EMAIL. WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE FOR YOU TO POST THEIR ADDRESSES HERE PLEASE. THANKS A LOT!

Wateen sucks man!!!!!!! I am an eCommerce Engineer in Australia. Currently in Pakistan (Back home for a year). On 30th of December 2007 I applied for wateen’s connection. They told me that I will get the CPE installed at my home in 48 hours. But I got my CPE after 9 days. They didn’t even send it to my home. They said come and collect from the franchise. Then they took nearly a week to configure it.
Now they haven’t send me the Telephony Bill but they disconnected my telephone service. When I contacted them they said we are looking for the problem. Now after 15 days their So Called ****ing customer service at 111-365-111 said that you are bad debt due to non payment of telephony bill. I told them that I haven’t received any. The bloody operator said to me you have to go to the franchise to collect it. Operator’s name was Akbar, Time of call was 2100 and date of call was 01st of April 2008.

This is the worst customer service I am facing. So from my side this is a big suggestion for others that WATEEN REALLY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT BUY WATEEN!!!!!!!!!!! ELSE PROBLEMS are yours

I started using wateen in jan - it was great - up till 2 weeks. It became very inconsistent, browsing would initially be very fast and then eventually come to a halt. I would have to hit reload numerous times just to get a page to load. Each time this would happen I would have 2 to 3 bars shown in the signal strength. However pinging the dns servers (10.16.6.11, 10.6.7.12), I would get no response - which explains no pages loading. I have an engineer on the case - although I’m not too hopeful about it - if this doesn’t get any better, soon. I’ll be switching to nayatel - never heard anyone complain about their services - plus their cable tv is way cheaper than wateens - another plus point.
Anyway to the person who mention the timeout of the connection and having to re-enter the username and password - by default the idle timeout is 20 minutes - you can increase this by logging into the web interface - 192.168.15.1 and navigating to tools > user management.

  15. nm Said:

To add - to increase speeds for torrents you need to enable ip forwarding. The best way to do this is to fix or use a static ip address on your desktop laptop for your wateen connection for example:
    ip address: 192.168.15.3
    subnet: 255.255.255.0
    gateway: 192.168.15.1
    dns1: 192.168.15.1
gateway and dns1 will depending on the ip address assigned to your moto router/device, check this from the web interface:
setup > lan configuration –> it will be the subnet ip address.
With that done, navigate to advanced > lan clients and add the static ip address you assigned to your desktop/laptop in this case 192.168.15.3.
Next navigate to advanced > port forwarding, select your ip from the drop down list, select the user radio button and then click on the ‘new’ button, give a name to the rule, specify the protocols TCP,UDP and the port - i am or rather was using azareus and so specified 16302 - check from your torrent client what port it uses. This made a big difference for my torrent downloads - that is prior to 2 weeks ago, hope it helps someone else at least.

  16. nm Said:

By the way to tanvir shah, we do have an option - return the device and get your remaining money back - apparently this is possible and something i will definitely be considering - call up their call center and they will give you details on how to return the device - you most likely need to visit and outlet you bought it from.

  17. Chink Said:

Haha..seriously dude, talk about being a cry baby…I’ve never heard anyone ever saying anything good about their service provider.

I live in NESPAK lahore, managed to get hold of their device during their friendly user trials period last year and my family and I are more than satisfied. Although I’ve had a couple of bad days over the period but I’ve seen their service improve significantly over the past period. Thats been the case with all new technologies.

Remember the time when you wouldn’t get any signals on your cell phone, I am sure you bitched about it then (but chose to stick it out anyway)

Most of the broadband users (DSL/ Cable), were either capped at 2-4 Gb/month or got pathetic speeds if they weren’t till only a short while back. Wateen atleast opened the market up, just compare the present market rates (and caps) with last year’s.

  18. nurdd Said:

wateen isnt bad mann ..its just about brains..i before buying wateen checked its indoor cpes signals is model town lahore ..they were none,, so i switched to their outdoor device which is working perfectly alright and giving me speeds upto 70..so think before buying it.

if just want to say to all those who having a problem using wateen connection. just leave the service bcs you dont have the good coverage of Wimax. in those areas where wimax coverage is good people are enjoying the service.
So please stop abusing wateen and subscribe the other one which is good for you. its very good serice.

  20. Ali Said:

Wateen is not bad as all you people are saying. i m using wateen since jan 2008 and its amazing about browing and downloading. but yes i faced some problems in march. and perhaps those problems were due to increase in users of wateen.
when a new technology or service comes it have to be face some prblems but they can be removed by the time.
same like me, if you people wait, your problems would be remove and you people will definatly enjoy the wireless high speed internet and you will proud over wateen.

  21. ayesha Said:

By the way to Sawant, i m agreed with you. The problems people are facing are due to coverage area and some people’s computers are not good configured with the CPE(Customer Premises Equipment).
So the those, who having problems with wateen just check the CPE configuration and coveage of wimax.

  22. salman Said:

To all wateen users, who are abusing wateen, just wait and be relax. its a just begining of wimax service. After some days it would be definetly better and better. its a not solution of every problem to abuse.
i m also a user of wateen and i also face some problem but its speed is very good.

  23. Kiki Said:

    haha! agree with Chink!
i love it how people use a platform such as this to just vent. Can they even separate the venting from the objective way of complaining? all i hear is just waaa waa waa.
here’s the deal: every isp has issues, especially from the beginning, that doesn’t come written in a handbook eintstein. so SUCK IT UP!
second of all, it depends on the coverage - as has been rightly pointed out above - and you need to be sure whether you need to need the indoor or the outdoor CPE. One is called Buckeye and the outdoor wala is Jupiter.
so chill dude, and let them connect!

  24. Mahmood Said:

I have terrible experience with Wateen… I think the upper management don’t care, the staff is totally inexperienced and customer service has no clue what they are doing.

I do get good download speed that is when i am able to connect, my biggest dilema is it keeps dropping the connection every 2 minutes and then keeps searching for signal. If I get over 50% signal at one time how the hell it just disconnects that I fail to understand.

Its one thing having bad signals and stuff. But once you get a good steady signal why does it not stay that way. While I was on this page it had already disconnected and reconnected itself.

I am seriously and completely dis-satisfied with wateen, as much i was thrilled to have WiMax. No wonder this technology had already failed in Silicon Valley and Bay Area.

  25. Mahmood Said:

Please ignore the user who are happy with Wateen.

    1- Those could be wateen employed people, or;
    2- Few exceptions..

I will be luck if i have 30 min. stable connection.

Also to top that Wateen does not have (here we go disconnected again) log for sign-ins and out so I can save and show it to them how terrible it is, also I cannot track how much have I used already.

I an quite happy with Wateen Prepaid Services.I an using since May 2006 (1MB download). I check my usage from Wateen Franchaise Office and see what I have to pay (usually in Prepaid you have to pay in advance).

I always try to solve problems by meeting the Wateen Franchaise Office in Quetta(very helpful staff)and online help(they are too very helpful).
I dont know what is the problem with you guys. Blaming is very simple. I also had some problems(I call it hickups)in May 2006 which are solved. Wateen WIMAX service is excellent where there is no land line. Still we are looking for more incentives in Wateen i.e some cushion i.e. some free Mega Bite download.

  28. Mahmood Said:

    Dear Shahid,

Like I said, there are few exception and you are probably one of them. For reasons:

    - It seems you are in Quetta, so there is probably not a very high load on their towers, plus I have been to Quetta and the its an open area where you see vast land all around not congested areas like Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi (some areas are really congested).

    - CS in Quetta could probably be very nice.

    Here is my beaf:

    - I completed the requirement the day applied, nothing was pending. They told me that my data will be entered within few minutes and i will get a temp login/pw. Nothing happened that day.
    - Second day a “technical staff” showed up at my location to “install” (which there was no need). He said he will go back to the office and tell them everything is fine….

Its a really long story and so many things that I have noticed. I am a very patient person but when I get mis-represented I really don’t apprecaite it and its been over a week and my phone is still not active which is suppose to be within 48 hours of connection.

If you like to hear my full story… i can email you …..

  29. Shahid Mamoon Said:

    Dear mahmood

First check with Wateen, is your area is located in the Wateen Circle. Then hang the CPE near the roof of your building. This improve signals.

Wateen Hot Spot (Access Points ) are located in various Warid Towers. Check where is the access point located. Each Access point gives data to 3 KM area. Like PTCL V signal it is not affected by congested areas.

  30. Mahmood Said:

Thank you so much for your suggestion. I have picked the sweetest spot in my area. And I do get the signal. What bothers me is when I am in middle of something it just gets disconnected. I get very good speed when connected. but then in middle of something it drops and sometimes takes forever to reconnect.

If i get signal once why does it disconnect for no reason. Then the staff is not trained enough. Believe I would not complain if these hickups.

Like I said the Higher management doesn’t care. I send them an email and its been over a week no response. The CS does not have proper trainging and the Franchise/Sales Staff lie about everything to make sales.

I have had connection with another DSL provider (this is not advertisment so won’t mention names) and they had problems too, when i complained they fixed it or at least the staff knew the reason for the problem.

How do you explain that after more than a week my voice line is not active for which I am paying the line rent and pre-paid for the balance as well.

WiMax has already failed in San Fransisco, I know it because I was there, people have rejected it. Its good when its the only option.

  31. Shahid Mamoon Said:

    Dear Mahmood

This disconnection is due to presence of location in between two access points. I had the same problem and it was then solved when a new access point near to my location started working.

Check with nearest Franchaise Office. With Emails you will not get result, the best way is call an engineer from Wateen Office. He will first see the signal strength and then he
will put a complain to main office.

I also had problems with Voice and data for first 15 days and I continuously visited there franchaise office every day to solve the problem. I got good service in June 2008.

Also check if a new access point is going to be opened.

Wimax is a new technology and every new things has some problems in initial stage.

Lets hope that you will get good transmission

  32. Mahmood Said:

Thank you so much for your suggestion I would look in to it. Hopefully that will resolve the problem.

Becuase, If I am depending on the Net and Voice on this kind of service then I cannot hope to achieve any results.

By the way, this is what their support and engineer should be doing by themselves. That shows how much they lack in support and facilitation rather concentrating on how to make more money.

    Regards

PS: before I hit submit i noticed i was disconnected again and the router searching for signal :-)

This is my first month using Wateen WiMax and its working great, except for one problem which I resolves which was the signal problem.

One thing all of you guys must know is that wateen’s inhouse router has major problem, their REPS came to my home thrice and the first two times the router the brought was USELESS not working but they came again and finally got the right router which can catch signals.

Major problem for wateen speed is that the placement of router must be as such that it must catch signals otherwise you won’t even be able to browse at dialup speed. REST ASSURED.

  35. Mahmood Said:

I do not disagree, some of you fellows are getting required services. I on the other hand am extremely pissed at Wateen. The only reason I am using it now is I have to wait till I get PTCL connection and get a regular DSL.

It’s not only that it keeps getting disconnecting, but in-competent (under-trained) staff, vague and untruthful policy and promises are the biggest beaf I have with wateen.

The newest thing is that the Reps told me I can change my package at any time. Guess what I cannot I went to Franchise the said Call CS and they will be able to you change it. I did call and they said no this option is not available.

I am going to lose more money to wateen but my work is based on the net I cannot afford to be out of net for more than 24 hours.

As for the lucky guys, I envy you :-) have fun while you can.

I couldn’t find any responsible person from Wateen, for last 3 days I was not able to talk any of wateen rep at their customer service centre because all the time all lines are busy.

If you get thru a line, no one is there to hear you and after listening music for 20 min you will be tired and you have to revoke your decision.

I couldn’t find the reason why my connection get saked???

    Please fm,

    My advice….
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

If wateen is the last ISP in Pakistan and I have to have internet then I would think about getting it.

I am extremely pissed at their service, customer service is completely ignorant.

The latest screw up: Saturday I told them I cannot log in I am getting “authentication failed” error.
Monday I get a call from them saying is my Phone working ok? I told them the complaint was about the Net service not the phone.

If you have other options plese consider those before anything.

    Regards

  39. Sikander Cassim Said:

It is a very old saying that the sense of ownership and sense of serving and satisfying the users/customer dwell down from the top. The pathetic and “who cares” sort of attitude we have been experiencing from the lower tier of Wateen’s staff is because of short-sightedness and lack of strategic vision of the top brass.

To me first impression is the last and Wateen has miserably failed to live up to this expectation. They went for quantity and cheap resources and compromised on quality.

I would like to share my experience of totally messed up online service. Since last two weeks I have been following up my complaint for fault in wateen’s telephone service. The fault is that when a caller dials my Wateen number and later disconnects the call then at my end phone keep buzzing. Strange is not it? Ringer of one of my telephone sets has already been damaged because of this fault. This happened while I was away from my home and in my absence not at my home and someone rang at my number and when I reached home I found the bell ringing with an irritating and annoying tone/sound. Later I found that ringer speaker got damaged as it kept buzzing for hours though the other party/caller might have disconnected the phone after a minute but at my end it kept ringing for hours till I reached home.

This fault was originally in the service when I subscribed; I guess three week back but it is still to be rectified by the best of best technical team or engineers of Wateen!!!!

Today I again contacted their help line and ask for status and receive reply we have referred the matter to our technical team with underlying message “Don’t disturb us we are in total “Thaund Program”.

So I am going to put widened agenda before the present Government: Impeachment, Restoration of judiciary, Get my telephone fault rectified!!!!!

Now tell me, why would a company like Wateen fall for 10 Million dollars when their own worth exceeds billions? If you really got some clues, put it down here. And by the way, if you were being sarcastic, that’s a different thing. I would say sorry in that case. Lol.

Mr. Sikandar Cassim, don’t you think your phone kept buzzing because of some other problem than Wateen’s service? You are probably the first one to have such complains, no match at all. And such things do happen, mistakenly or whatever you name them. But such a big company like Wateen won’t really be free to keep knocking you landline lol. You should have gone to someone who is good at fixing such problems.

  42. 'Wateen ka puttar' should be a galee Said:

I was searching on the net as to why my wateen speed sucks so much and I found this forum, to all the people who want broadband: “STAY AT LEAST 3000 KILOMETERS AWAY FROM THE SERVICE, if possible, SHIFT TO ANOTHER COUNTRY, RUN for your LIVES!….IT SUCKS. S.U.C.K.S…WATEEN SUCKS LIKE NO OTHER POLITICIAN, stay away..”

  43. Ghias Said:

I suspect that wateen is parent-less company and their employee doesn’t know the value of customer. And within the wateen setup there is no responsible person. I’ve trying to contact them and everyone is transferring to others and initially it was hard or hard luck to find anyone at wateen because all the time I found their number busy.

They have the worst quality of service and espeically their peoples, I don’t know why this company is running in orphan mode!!!

Some interesting point to share you, when I was trying to contact a Wateen’s reponsible and he was not attending the call on his cell despite calling hundred of times, when he picked and I asked him why are you NOT attending the call, he simply annoyed on me and said “ITS MY CHOICE TO PICK OR NOT TO PICK YOUR CALL??” What is this bullshit???

  44. Mahmood Said:

It is so pathetic but I am stuck with Wateen. Its been almost 2 months I applied for phone line with PTCL and still no respose from them. They suppose to install within 7-10 days. First it was understandable in mid-july they had strikes fine, you raised your voices, got what you want now WTF….

I was able to catch a line-man last week he said in your DB there are about 100 more lines available but there is no good pair. And there is no contact from PTCL about the status of the order or any apology or solution.

Wateen, although connects be but It is highly irritating. I had to restart downloads many a time and thats wastage of bandwidth that they don’t compensate.

NONE of the organization is catered to take care of their customer. In this country the customers are parent-less. We have no rights and we are the one throwing all this money at these corporate culture wannbees..

May Allah have mercy on us all.

    Wateen = Efficient … NOT!
    Wateen = Honest … NOT!

Got my fist wateen bills (for March and June yesterday; what happened to April, May, July, August?)

Seems they ae overcharging me about Rs 1500 for each month (bill should have been Rs 999 for my package but I am getting about 3 times that. Figuring out the phone calls — about Rs 400 — It still is more than double). They say I am going over the download limit by 2 to 4 GB but that is impossible with my usage patterns…Let’s see how my trip to the customer “service” office goes. I know I am not paying them the extra.

  46. Mahmood Said:

    Goodluck Motey…

If by CS you mean the Franchise Office, they are bunch of liars and un-trained hill-billys (i think hill-billys have more sense).

Like I stated earlier they have no concept of “Customer” and what the hell is “Support”. They can’t even find that word in dictionary..

Good luck though may the blessings of Ramadan help you sort out the problems.

    Ramadan Kareem everyone!

  47. Mahmood Said:

nota: sorry my bad, i thought you said “mota”, my apologies, did not mean to call names…

  48. Khizer Said:

Their servix has improved in last few weeks. Da problemx that occurred in the past could have been a part of upgradation. n its a gud change. Pehle to service buri thi.. but ab khuda ka shukar hai. 

  49. Mudassar Said:

Well, Wateen has converted my internet package to prepaid without letting me know first. Same service, same cap and same customer support but charges are no more same, increased by Rs.250. Now tell me who will go for their service Rs.1600/512K and that too with 10GB cap.

  50. Mahmood Said:

Today was the worst day of their service. Would not stay on for more than 1 minute. I am running my business mostly on internet and I have to connect to people using VoIP. It was so frustating. Only because of Ramadan I was not cursing the h3ll out of them…

I called PTCL and put another telephone line order, hopefully I get landline soon and get rid of wateen once and for all.

I am thinking about writing to PTA and some media people as well. Maybe I can initiate an online petition and get enough people to sign-in to forward to PTA…

  51. omw Said:

I;ve been usin g Wateen 1mb/ 4 gb prepaid package for 3 months now. performing is pretty good. I get about 110-115 kbps during downloads. However, I would prefer an unlimited ptcl package for the same price, especially after the launch of ptcl smart(digital TV service). I am in an area where ptcl dsl is not available, therefore had to opt for wateen! My advice is get an unlimited package from another service provider coz I really have to be careful of not expending my 4 gb quota while video streaming and downloading massive files. THEY R FAR TOO EXPENSIVE THAN THE COMPETITION AND ONLY GOOD FOR THOSE WHO R EITHER DESPERATE OR DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO A BETTER SERVICE PROVIDER IN THEIR AREA!

  52. Shumail Said:

    Ramadan Kareem, everyone!
Nota? I’m surprised to know what you just said. But its not a big deal. Just take your documents with you as a proof and you gonna meet no harms. Their customer relation has pretty much improved. But thats unbelievable. Why do you think it happened? Why would they charge you when you haven’t even crossed download limit? :0 *Wonders*
    anyways.. cheers

  53. nota Said:

    @Shumail
I think their acounting sucks. I had the same prolem with my WiMax connection at work. One day it showed I had half a gig of downloads. The next day I had gone over to 4 gig limit. What was funny was my connection was DOWN THE WHOLE TIME so there was NO POSSIBILITY of that happening…

They also tell youwhen you are done you must logout or else you could get charged extra? First of all, why? If I am not using the connection and just happen to be logged in, why should my meter be running? Second, how can I logout when most of the time it is the electricity that goes away and i don’t get a chance. Third, it logs me out automatically after 5 minutes of inactivity anyways…

  54. Mahmood Said:

And to add to Nota’s comments if you go over your limit that is it you have to wait till you billing cycle starts. You have to keep paying Rs 35/100mb.

It happened to me the first billing cycle. I have a 10GB pacakge and on the 20th day or so. I couldn’t use my net I called them and they said because I went over limit. I always watch my download. I know I download a lot but I watch it and guess what I was downloading an ISO of 3.5GB using a download manager. After 23 hours and 2.7GB my limit supposidly was reached and the account locked. Took me sometime to figure out pay and re-instate my account.

The download was no longer valid I had to restart the download and keeping in mind I am paying Rs 35/100mb for next week I couldn’t. You cannot just recharge your account, you have to wait for the billing cycle?????????. DOES THAT SUCK OR WHAT?

a month later i figure out my account was hacked and it was being used by someone else and this problem didn’t get solved till like 2 months my god damn password kept on changing when ever i needed to login and then i had to call the boring helpline with that ridiculous song going on EVERYDAY ATLEAST 6 TIMES IN THE DAY coz tat other guy was using my account n somehow he use to reset n change my password n when i tell another wateen representive he says its impossible he needs ur nic no and yap yap yap in the end i was gona refund the product coz the problem wasnt getting solved and then they showed logging against the mac address and it totaly proved someone else was using my account n the solution they picked up was to convert me to prepaid

ok now i get converted and u knw what the new problem is i logged in and i had 12500 balance and when the next day i login wat do u knw ZERO BALANCE ;@

  56. Shumail Said:

Hmmm.. So it does log you out. And Guy, I don’t know why it happened with you. I too have been using Wateen for quite a good time but I just had inaccessibility problems and they don’t last anymore. Seriously! I see an immense improvement in Wateen’s service and compared to its previous services, it is completely unbelievable.
I have also heard some good and bad news about Mobilink. But i haven’t used it.
May be the Wimax service is in its early stages in pakistan, and its gradually improving. Probably thats the reason for its bad services but what you say… THAT IS STRANGE! I’ll try to figure it out and let you know.

    Hope to see you around

  57. nota Said:

    @Shumail
Just want to clarify I have had almost no problems with the service since the paid period started. Again I am talking cable here in DHA Lahore (Net service was horrible and unusable till Feb 29, the testing period, but magically it all got fixed March 01 when pay period started. Was poor service intentional then during testing phase?) I have had maybe one or two brief outages since. Only problem now I have with is billing. Has their customer service improved? My WiMax experience so far does not give me much confidence. 365 in the 111-365-111 probably means the days in the year you will have interruptions…

  58. nota Said:

I think one of my last posts did not make it through. It went something like this:
I just got my first bill (for March through June) and it is for over Rs.11,000. My package (Evergreen Chrome?) was for Rs. 999 (850 + 149 for modem rent) plus phone calls. My bill informs me I have been averaging some 4 GB downloads over my 2 GB limit which is just not possible. Even assuming it was true, my contracts states Rs. 200 per GB I go over but my bill states Rs 2050 for the 4 GB extra, which comes to around Rs. 500 per GB…

  59. Mahmood Said:

    Ok Guys,

For those who want to know what customer service is, check this out. Although the customer probably was wrong, here is how a “corporate company” handled it.

  60. FSD Said:

    Wateen is not reliable.

They specialize in sending false bills (in my case 15k Rs) and then stand firm to say, “Yes, this bill is yours!”

Use Wateen at your own risk!
