TIE Lahore is organizing TES 2007 in Lahore, and will be held 17th - 18th December 2007. After Lighting the Fire, now they hope to show you Legends and Leaders to keep the fuel burning.
The two-day summit will consist of a Gala Networking Dinner on the first day followed by a speaker-driven conference on day-two. Speakers will include a host of TIE event regulars, to quote their invitation letter:
Speakers this year will include legendary figures from Pakistan including Syed Babar Ali, Hussain Dawood, Mian Mansha, Dr. Salman Shah & dynamic young leaders like Saquib Shirazi & Ali J. Siddiqui; Kanwal Reikhi, Apurv Bagri, Suren G. Dutia, Arjun Malhotra, Dr. Akram Chowdry, Jauher Zaidi & Naeem Zafar from TiE Global; and eminent international venture capitalists Arif Naqvi of Abraaj Capital & Ayaz-ul Haque of ePlanet Ventures.
Take the speaker list with a grain of salt, however, because some of these speakers may cancel (or already have) at the last minute.
Also part of the summit will be the awards ceremony of the TiE Khudee Business Plan Competition. Tickets are about Rs.6000 (both days included) for non-TIE members and about Rs.4000 for TIE Members, and Rs.500 for Students. You can get a 50% discount by registering before December 10th.
For more details you can email sairas@lums.edu.pk
P.S. Thanks to Sidrat for pointing me to this.

TIE and PSEB took initiative for organizing business plan competition. Does anyone know of “any company” which emerged out of such competition?
I am working with last year “TIE” business plan competition winners. However i seriously felt the team needed serious mentorning.

Are you a teacher/advisor/consultant or concept implentor as in the case of NGOs? Role?
I will be very happy to know whats common between.
I am planning to start an Interuniversity platform where the first step would be to launch a common platform-independent print/non-print interactions. It has different phases. Its first phase is under the way and it has got good coverage in the universities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
If you are connected to education sector then please contact me. Or i will be pleased to collaborate or to be in-touch with your contacts.
Cheers

I think events like this provide good opportunity to get inspired and network. I take the point about last minute cancellations from the worthy speakers which can be disappointing. But to make the most follow the tips as below;
1. Make sure you have your business cards handy.
2. Practice how to introduce yourself and get to the point within 30 secs.
3. Be polite and smile! it works.
4. Show higher levels of interest.
5. The succss in networking is in the follow up. So always follow your new contacts with interesting news and information.
6. Invest in developing yourself especially with latest self-development techniques such as offered by ISEI UK, in the brain based development area. It pays back many times over!
Good luck!
