Seems like Telenor is making all the news these days (other telcos: send some press releases our way)
Telecom Magazine has a story that says that Telenor Pakistan had a net addition of 2.4 million subscribers in the first quarter of this year, and revenue growth to US$ 94 Million.
Yes, that’s in one quarter.
With such figures Telenor should be well on its way of achieving breakeven on their investment in Pakistan on GSM this year. Kudos to them.
Lets see how much longer they would want to stay on GSM before thinking of investing in 3G.
My thoughts? Maybe a little while — in the short-to-mid term it still makes more sense to stick to a core telephony business in a high-volume / low price market (like the untapped rural / urban markets), rather than invest in higher ARPU services for smaller markets, but lets see what they have in mind.

I’m seriously considering switching to Telenor from Ufone. Ufone’s service has been extremely pathetic of late – to an extent where sometimes I can’t even call other Ufone users!
They spam us with useless messages almost everyday yet weren’t even courteous enough to send an apology message after their service was down for over 35 hours in Lahore couple of weeks back!

Telenor is definitely a fastest growing Telecom company of Pakistan. I am really impressed at the innovations and technology being used at Telenor. They always remain the first one to introduce new services. Good job Telenor.
