I have a sincere question for all of you. First, let me explain the full extent of my  pain:

The only things certain about life are Death, Taxes, and that Projects will be massive and complex.

I define complex projects in a simple way: Their scope is too large for a single person to keep all aspects of the project in his /her mind at all given times.

The different parts, pieces and aspects of the project have to be written down, discussed, modified and changed often to get it right.

This is a universal truth about all projects: Think of your last big marketing campaign, promotional campaign, professional software or technology product,  killer business idea, what have you — there are many different perspectives to keep in mind for planning any one of these activities, be it features or requirements, target partners, network site plan or map, distribution sites, retailers, marketing channel mix etc.

What’s worse, planning this is just the first step — imagine that you just figured out your retailer network for the perfect consumer footprint to distribute your product to.

The worst part of getting organized is how you would keep track of each individual retailers individual discussions, deals, offers and more.

Large companies sometimes have ERP/MIS systems, or sometimes (amazingly) they dont have any IT infrastructure but strict procedures and workflows in place. For smaller companies or consultants such as myself, what do I do?!

Alright, I need your help, really I do

The pain is that when projects get complex, I start to fear getting disorganized. The pain is that just keeping track of all of the different perspectives of a large campaign can often be a migrane with traditional tools such as MS Doc files, MS Project files, Excel charts, files, folders and scribbled notes and emails… argh!

My question to you is: Have you found any software out there that you use and would recommend to me that can help keep things in context and help me get organized?

I know there’s Scrybe, but I need something to manage projects or plans and then followup with activities on those plans.

If you dont use software, do you have a magical scheme you’d like to share?
